Have you ever heard of a story written in the form of a poetry?
This is one such rare piece of a gem.
As I journeyed through life along with the author, to a great extent I could feel the missed childhood days that were enjoyed earlier, that gradually turned mundane as life progressed from childhood to adolescence.
‘A symbolic angel turning the life from mundane boredom to the nature’s lap and full of life and enthusiasm.’ The similies and allegories used are beautiful.
Sincerity with a touch of poignancy is how I could possibly describe in a single line. The author has explored some of the great and yet subtle ironies and nuances of life. She has also expressed her thoughts on humanity.
A wish to be liberated from the societal limitations, the author speaks of various subtle issues in the society, especially the atrocities faced by women. One can also appreciate the pragmatic approach of the author who hasn’t given any specific prescription but just simply went along with the flow and her true feelings.
The author has beautifully tried out different styles of poetry in the same book. You can observe this as you move from one chapter to another. The writing style is very original. Sometimes I got a feel of prosaic within the poetry that has been beautifully blended.
To sum up, the author seems to have poured her emotions into this beautiful book written in the form of letters maintained like a diary, giving a message to the readers on the nuances, ironies and the patterns that exist in our society.
I would highly recommend this book to all.
The book is available on Amazon.

Monolith, A flash fiction by Sambit Daspatnaik
The giant monoliths stood tall amidst the dry arid desert. In fact, they formed a pair. Unlike the previous ones that disappeared mysteriously within a few days, these stood permanently. Revathi and her team were studying the radiations being emitted from these massive metallic single piece structures from a small lab set-up at a close vicinity. They were clueless though, until Revathi laid her hands on an ancient manuscript, that provided instructions to activate these structures.
The ancient manuscript referred these giant alien monoliths as a portal to the other realm of the Sky Gods. Meanwhile, the scientific community had related this information to be an entrance to a wormhole.
The team finally made the breakthrough after several weeks of research. The two monoliths got charged and emanated a faint light between the two of them to form a portal. The only way to know what was on the other side was to walk through it all by oneself.
Revathi was now standing in front of this portal and took her steps hesitantly; and yet with determination, to make history. But deep within, she was concerned about the technique of teleportation that the manuscript had mentioned, where an object would disintegrate into packets of energy during the teleportation and again get integrated at the other end of the wormhole.
She took a deep breath; and marched right through the frame. As she entered it, she saw events moving faster through a passage. She could feel herself disintegrating until she had no memory of what happened next.
She was then thrown out at the other end on a flat solid ground. She was pleased to see herself intact. She then looked around to find high citadels at a distance, and ancient flying machines hovering on a visibly different sky. As she looked back, the light dimmed out indicating that the portal had stopped. Her heart sank. There was no way to go back to Earth and communicate this historic travel. But then, she looked forward to finding more about the speculated Sky Gods.

Sitakund is known for its waterfall and Lulung for its vast serene forest patch beside the Palpala river.
Legend has it that Sitakund was presided by Goddess Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, the avatar of Lord Vishnu who came to Earth to remove evil and re-establish Dharma (righteousness).
Sitakund is one of the many places in the ancient land of Bharata visited by Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and His younger brother Lakshmana as part of their exile into the forest.
Nearby the waterfalls, is a small temple of Lord Hanuman in a meditating pose, believed to be protecting this area.
The two places are located in the fringes of the Simlipal Tiger Reserve Forest Sanctuary in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. Lulung waterfall is a tourist destination as well as an entry gate to this forest sanctuary. This place is around 25 km away from Baripada, the headquarter city of Mayurbhanj district and the cultural center of North Odisha.
The massive hills covered in thick forests, presence of an array of fauna, the sky-kissing Sal trees and the dancing Palpala river greet one at Lulung. On further travel into the beautiful forest, one can visit the Barehipani and the Jolanda waterfall as well.
From Lulung, tourists get a good view of the surrounding mountain peaks such as the Meghasani and the Khairiburu peak. Moreover, other rivers such as the Khairi, Budhabalanga and the Salandi run throughout the forest.
Lulung forms a hotspot for all picnics during the winter season. Usually people arrange their parties along the river bank of Palpala River. As one goes a little deeper into the forest, one can see wild elephants in their natural habitat. There is a Lulung Jungle Resort for a comfortable stay.
This place forms an important stop for all Hindu devotees as well as a natural picnic spot for all the travelers.
